The University of Cincinnati is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The University of Cincinnati has been approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) initiative. Participation in SARA grants the University reciprocity to offer online and distance learning programs to residents of other SARA states, except where noted. Federal regulations require that the University of Cincinnati publicly disclose whether completing certain programs, which may lead to professional licensure or certification, meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in each state. This disclosure applies to all program modalities, including on-ground, online, or hybrid.
Students may only enroll in a licensure program if, while attending UC, the student is going to physically reside in a state/territory where the program meets that state/territory’s educational requirements for licensure.
The following charts disclose the University’s licensure programs and indicate in which states or territories the licensure programs meet or do not meet the educational requirements for licensure.

This program meets the educational requirements for professional licensure in every U.S. State, the District of Columbia, and these U.S. Territories: American Samoa, Micronesia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Palau, US Virgin Islands.
*For states/territories where the educational requirements for licensure are designated as “Meets”, the educational requirements for this program are met through state licensing reciprocity. Students must first obtain an Ohio license. Other state licenses may then be obtained through licensing reciprocity. Please contact the College for additional information.
*Arizona meets the educational requirements for this program through state licensing reciprocity. Students must first obtain an Ohio license. An Arizona license may then be obtained through licensing reciprocity. Please contact the College for additional information.
*Alaska, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, North Dakota and Oregon meet the educational requirements for this program through state licensing reciprocity. Students must first obtain an Ohio license. Licenses for Alaska, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, North Dakota or Oregon may then be obtained through licensing reciprocity. Please contact the College for additional information.

While the university is authorized to operate in other SARA member states, program-specific considerations may be noted. Some professional programs, such as nursing, teacher education, and others, also fall under the jurisdiction of state professional licensing boards.
